During the Khatami’s administration between 1997 and 2005, she was the first Sunni district governor in the Chabahar, Sistan and Baluchestan Province, when she was 25. Despite all the oppositions inside the country, Homeira Rigi served as a district governor. One of her most notable actions in this position was the construction of the Majiro asphalt pavement road in the south of Sistan and Baluchestan province.
This action counts as vital and critical since there were insecurities and armed terrorists threatening the construction. Though, Mrs. Rigi went to Majiro in order to meet the terrorist’s leader and talked to him! After convincing them to secure the region, she won the governor’s approval to build an asphalt pavement road in Majiro. Now the road is known as Ms. Rigi’s road. Homeira Rigi considers the improvement of self-esteem in the women of her province as one of her achievements. “I entered the mosques, I accompanied men, where women have never attained.” she stated once in an interview. The Mawlawis accepted me because they honored me and all of this made women believe in themselves. third female ambassador of iran
